Join AARP at Virginia’s Premier Volunteer Conference This July

The Greater Richmond Association for Volunteer Administrator (GRAVA) Conference is Virginia’s premier gathering of volunteer and service leaders from the nonprofit, corporate, and local government sectors.  Non-profit professionals are invited to the 2014 GRAVA Volunteerism Professional Development Conference in Richmond, July 10.

GRAVA is a professional membership organization that promotes and supports excellence in the management and leadership of volunteers in the Greater Richmond area through professional development, networking, and advocacy.

AARP Virginia has been a long standing partner with GRAVA for over five years, providing volunteer workshops and an event sponsor.

Join hundreds of non-profit professionals 8 a.m. – 3 p.m., Thursday, July 10 at the Capital One West  Creek Town Center, to learn about new tools, technologies and strategies for thriving volunteer programs. GRAVA’s Annual Conference provides attendees with a wide range of exciting and informative workshops, special expert guest, educational materials, peer networking, specialized tracks on CCVA Core Competencies and more.

Subtopics covered:

  • Measuring volunteer activity  ƒ
  • Impact of volunteer involvement
  • Link between what volunteers do and your organization target audience/mission
  • What type of impact are your volunteers having on your program/organization/building your capacity
  • What is your impact as a volunteer administrator to your volunteers

Special keynote speaker Margaret Plantz, former United Way director of evaluation and measurement, will present “Measuring and Using Outcome for Volunteer Programs”. Margaret established the framework to distinguish community change from program services as an approach to improve lives.  She Developed resources for building collaborative community change strategies and how to frame them as investment products.

Individuals interested in attending the conference should complete and return a registration form with the $40 fee for GRAVA members or $50 fee for Non-GRAVA members.  To pay by check, please download application from GRAVA website  and mail a check made payable to GRAVA to AARP VA, Attn: Stephanie Gossett, GRAVA conference chair, 707 E.
