In keeping with a nationwide AARP campaign, the state office is encouraging Virginians to “Be the Difference. Vote.” Virginia has races for one U.S. Senate seat and 11 U.S. House seats, as well as many municipal elections, all to be decided on Tuesday, Nov. 6.

Are you ready to participate in the midterm elections? The deadline to register is Monday, Oct. 15. And remember: On Election Day, you will need to carry a valid photo ID to the polls. To vote absentee, the registrar must receive your request by mail by Oct. 30 at 5 p.m. or in person by Nov. 3 at 5 p.m. For all kinds of voter information, including how to find your polling place or where to get an absentee ballot, go to elections.virginia.gov.

Voters 50 and older comprised 46 percent of the vote in Virginia in 2016, according to exit polls. For more information, including how to find out where candidates stand on issues, go to aarp.org/vote.
