With only a few days before the final Presidential debate, Northern Virginia AARP volunteers joined with AARP staff and volunteers from the national office and other states to ask Fox News, the debate sponsor, to question the presidential candidates for their positions on funding Social Security.

The combined team included Virginia and Maryland volunteers, and members of AARP’s headquarters and state staffs.  Time until the last debate is short.  AARP conducted a high energy effort on Wednesday, October 14, to bring over 150 people to Fox News in Washington D.C. with 1.5 million petitions for “Take a Stand.”  AARP campaign leaders addressed the public with the need to take action now.  Representatives were selected from AARP organizations to deliver the petitions to Fox News.

The Northern Virginia volunteers are led by Amber Sultane, AARP Virginia Associate State Director for Community Outreach, and are shown below.  Their support was coordinated by the AARP “Take A Stand” campaign office in Springfield, Virginia.  Special thanks are owed to the campaign office for their help in orchestrating this successful event.
