White House Conference on Aging Watch Party

Every decade since 1960, the White House has held a Conference on Aging the most recent taking place in 2005. The idea of the Conference is to review developments in aging since the last conference and identify current challenges and opportunities.

The White House Conference on Aging has been a catalyst for the development of aging policy for the past 50 years. The ideas and momentum generated by the Conference have prompted the establishment of and/or key improvements to many of the array of programs that serve older Americans.

The White House Conference on Aging maintains a core commitment to ensuring that throughout their lifespan Americans have the opportunity to learn and develop skills, engage in productive work, make choices about their daily lives, and participate fully in community life. In addition, the Conference is designed to assist the public and private sectors in being responsive to the needs of a diverse aging population and to promote the dignity and independence of and expand opportunities for current and future generations of older persons and their families
