As of November 1, 2025, millions of Americans may not receive their monthly food benefits through the Supplemental Nutrition Assistance Program (SNAP) due to the ongoing federal government shutdown. In Wyoming, Governor Gordon has declared a public welfare emergency to ensure that food assistance continues (for now), but this can still put pressure on local organizations and food banks dedicated to feeding hungry Wyomingites.

AARP Wyoming is collecting non-perishable food items now through Thanksgiving. All donations will go directly to local food pantries, the VA, and Veterans Rock.

AARP Wyoming’s Care for Caregivers series will be offered virtually starting in November.

Non-profit organizations in Clearmont, Thermopolis, and Sheridan scored a total of four Community Challenge Grants totaling $31,000, AARP announced this fall.
As The AARP Wyoming State President, I will continue to work with caregivers as part of my platform during my tenure. I live in Sheridan, Wyoming where my husband Clarence and I lead the AARP Community Action Team.
The event, called Senior High Tech, is a collaboration between SkillsUSA students from around the state, AARP Wyoming and the Casper Senior Center. The training is free and there is no requirement to be an AARP member or over age 50 in order to take part in the event. In addition to the tech tutoring, a free lunch, courtesy of AARP Wyoming will be available at the Casper Senior Center on April 25.

According to Department of Revenue Director Brenda Henson, the application for property tax refunds went live on April 1 and can be procured by calling The State Revenue Department office at 307-777-7320, going online to WPTRS.wyo.gov., or from your local county treasurer's office. Application deadline for tax year 2022 refunds is June 5.
AARP shredding events help you to stay one step ahead of identity thieves by shredding personal and financial documents. Please bring your documents in something easy to dump into the shred truck like boxes or paper bags. AARP Wyoming allows up to two large boxes to be dropped off per vehicle.

In the early 1900s, the Greenwood neighborhood of Tulsa, Oklahoma, now called "Black Wall Street," was a vibrant and prosperous community. Despite the challenges and racial injustices they faced, residents of this community built a thriving neighborhood filled with successful Black-owned businesses, attorneys, doctors, and real estate agents. Their achievements were nothing short of remarkable and served as a beacon of hope for Black Americans nationwide.
The classes are a mix of cardio and strength training and those at any fitness level are welcome to join. AARP Wyoming recommends you consult with a physician before beginning an exercise program.
