Residents whose homes require exterior repairs due to storm damage will be better protected from fraudulent contractors under a new law, which takes effect July 1.
AARP Wyoming was one of several organizations that helped develop the legislation and encouraged lawmakers to pass it earlier this year.
The law requires contractors soliciting exterior repair services to disclose the company’s full name and whether the business is licensed and insured. The contractor must itemize in writing which repairs will be done, as well as any exclusions or work already performed. The contract must also state that the consumer has a right to cancel for any reason within three days.
