Wyoming will officially commemorate the 150th anniversary of the women’s suffrage act on Tuesday, December 10, 2019. Cheyenne is set to host a full day of events to finish out 2019 as the “Year of Wyoming Women.”

8 a.m.: Women’s Suffrage Anniversary March

The march will begin at West 17th & Carey and will end at the Wyoming State Capitol. The march will be followed by special announcements from Wyoming’s Governor.

9 – 10 a.m.: Official Wyoming Women’s Suffrage Day Ceremony

Join Wyoming’s Governor, Mark Gordon, as he proclaims December 10 as Wyoming Women’s Suffrage Day.

10 – 4 p.m.: Tour Wyoming State Capitol and the Historic Territorial Chamber

Learn more about Wyoming women’s suffrage history through special tours of the newly restored State Capitol. Tours will also include the unveiling of the Historic Territorial Chamber, where women’s suffrage was upheld.

Noon: Wonderful Wyoming Women Voters Performance

Performed by five members of the Cheyenne League of Women Voters, “Wonderful Wyoming Women Voters” play revolves around four Wyoming women critical to passing the first legislation giving women their inherent right to vote and hold office. An informative and entertaining way to highlight the history of Wyoming’s suffrage movement – appropriate for all age groups.

7 – 8:30 p.m.: Wyoming PBS Premiere – The State of Equality: Wyoming Women’s Suffrage

The State of Equality explores Wyoming as the first state to guarantee women their inherent right to vote and hold office. Colorful frontier characters, a volatile mix of motives, and the caprice of history drive this story of a neglected chapter in America’s past. Seating will be limited.

5 – 9 p.m.: Wyoming PBS Premiere – The State of Equality: Wyoming Women’s Suffrage

Hosted by The Brinton Museum and The Sheridan Press, the State of Equality explores Wyoming as the first state to guarantee women their inherent right to vote and hold office.
