AARP strongly supports the Paid Family Leave and Paid Sick Leave programs because family caregivers who work shouldn’t have to choose between caring for a loved one and making a living.

Under state law, working Californians can take up to eight weeks off to care for a seriously ill loved one while still receiving a portion of their wages. Click here to read 5 things Californians Should Know About Paid Family Leave.

In addition to Paid Family Leave, the state has a Paid Sick Leave program, which allows working Californians to take 5 days paid time off for the flu or other illnesses and preventative care under California Paid Sick Days. Click here to read 5 things Californians Should Know About Paid Sick Leave.
