Oklahoma County residents age 60-plus, or any age with visual impairments, will have another transportation option when a ride program begins this fall.

ITNCentralOklahoma, a membership nonprofit, will provide taxi-like rides in cars driven by volunteers. The annual membership fee is $50, and rides cost about half as much as taking a taxi. Riders may donate their car to start an account, and volunteers can “bank” mileage for their own future use.

ITN stands for “independent transportation network.” The local network—one of 24 affiliates of ITNAmerica—is now taking applications for member riders and volunteer drivers. For details, go to itncentraloklahoma.org.
