Think you know AARP? You’d be surprised…
You’re invited to attend an upcoming All Things AARP session and a Social Media Workshop at our offices in Boston, to learn more about what we do and how you can help bring our programs to your community and spread our messages online through social media channels. Our three teams—Community Outreach, Advocacy, and Communications—work hard every day to bring real possibilities to the lives of those 50+ in Massachusetts—and we'd love to have you join us!
ALL THINGS AARP
Through our Outreach work, AARP Massachusetts engages members across the state by doing ground-level work in communities. Here are just a few of our many programs:
- Home Fit: As you age, your needs change…but does your home? Our experts and volunteers help you discover changes you can make at your home to stay there safely as you age.
- Life Reimagined: This fun, rewarding program helps you discover exciting new opportunities and possibilities, whatever your age, life or work status. "Check-Up" sessions, done online or in small groups, help you discover the "what's next" moment in your life, your work, your relationships, and more.
- Driver Safety: Become a better driver by taking our Driver Safety classes from specially trained experts. The rules of the road have changed since you earned your driver’s license; how many of the changes do you know
- Experience Corps: This program, which trains volunteers to serve as literacy coaches among Boston schoolchildren in Grades K-3, is run by our affiliate organization, Generations Incorporated.
- AARP Foundation Tax-Aide: Trained volunteers help those in need do their taxes.
Through our Advocacy work at the State House on Beacon Hill, AARP Massachusetts fights for benefits and programs—including home and community-based services, caregiving, or consumer protection—that matter to you and your family.
SOCIAL MEDIA WORKSHOP
Our Communications team works to bring AARP’s message to the digital media world through timely articles on our state website and by engaging with members and Massachusetts residents on a variety of social media channels such as: Facebook, Twitter, Instagram, Pinterest, Tumblr, and more.
Our Social Media Workshop will teach you the basics of Facebook. Perhaps you’re already using Facebook to keep in touch with family and friends…but do you wish you knew more about it? And are you in the dark about other social media channels, such as Twitter, Instagram, Pinterest, Tumblr, and Flickr? If time allows, we’ll touch upon these as well.
At AARP Massachusetts, we maintain an active presence on Facebook, as well as on Twitter, Instagram, Pinterest, Tumblr, and Flickr. Social media is an active, engaging forum where we share our messages about life reimagined, living your best life, real possibilities, volunteering opportunities, and Outreach and Advocacy for Massachusetts residents 50+ and their families. Learn about our social media presence and become a social media volunteer with us by “Liking” and “Sharing” our posts!
