Tax season is upon us and, luckily, so is the AARP Foundation Tax-Aide program! Tax-Aide offers free, individualized tax preparation for low to moderate income taxpayers - especially those 50 and older - at several locations across the Granite State. All tax counselors are volunteers that are trained by the IRS to provide free tax preparation services. You do not need to be a member of AARP or a retiree to use this service.
I waited in Panera Bread, readying myself to interview the 2016 AARP New Hampshire Andrus Award for Community Service recipient. The Andrus Award is AARP’s most prestigious award, recognizing an individual 50 years or older who has made an impact on their community through volunteerism and inspired others to do the same. With that prestige in mind, I admit I was nervous.
If you’re interested in finding out how to get involved with AARP New Hampshire, you might want to sign up for our upcoming Snack, Sample and Serve event, where you can get a “taste” of volunteer opportunities at AARP New Hampshire.
