WASHINGTON, DC – AARP today sent a letter to members of Congress and the President opposing the deficit proposal that would reduce Social Security benefits by adopting the Chained Consumer Price Index (CCPI). In last year’s deficit discussion AARP took a similar position. The letter follows a report AARP recently released called Proposed Changes to Social Security’s Cost-of-Living Adjustment.
The Nevada State Contactors Board (NSCB), in partnership with state legislators and state agency representatives, is hosting four Senior Awareness Programs in Las Vegas, Boulder City, and Carson City in the next month. The events are free of charge and will highlight a variety of scams that target seniors, help seniors identify the warning signs provide tips and tools to help seniors protect themselves, as well as offering resource information on where to report incidents of abuse. Light refreshments will be made available.
