La aprobación del Programa de Seguridad de Jubilación de Connecticut por parte de la legislatura estatal de este año ha abierto un camino para asegurar la jubilación financiera de más de 600.000 residentes de Connecticut, incluyendo más del 60 por ciento de hispanos y latinos. Antes de esta nueva ley, aquellos trabajadores empleados por las pequeñas empresas no tenían asegurado una oportunidad de un plan de ahorros de jubilación. Ahora, este camino está expedito para un futuro financiero más brillante en el 2018.

A partir del 1.º de julio la mayoría de los consumidores de Connecticut contarán con tarifas de servicio de generación de energía eléctrica mucho más bajas. La Autoridad Reguladora de Servicios Públicos de Connecticut (PURA) anunció a principios de marzo las nuevas tarifas de generación del servicio estándar para los clientes residenciales de Eversource y United Illuminating (UI). Las tarifas del servicio estándar residencial para Eversource disminuirán de 9.555 centavos por kilovatio-hora (kWh) a 6.606 centavos/kWh, y para UI de 10.7358 centavos/kWh a 8.0224 centavos/kWh.

AARP Life Reimagined – launched in 2014 as a program to assist people at any age navigate transitions, pursue their goals, dreams and purpose in life – will be at Central Connecticut State University (CCSU) for a free checkup event hosted by The Office of Continuing Education on Wednesday, June 29, beginning at 6 p.m.

AARP Connecticut staff and volunteers were in the community at two fantastic and meaningful events in Hartford on Saturday, June 4, and Sunday, June 5. Attendees at both events had an opportunity to learn more about AARP and the nationwide Take a Stand initiative asking Federal office candidates to lay out their plan to update Social Security so it’s financially sound with adequate benefits.
