Become an AARP Volunteer!

House with twenty dollar bills background and calculator

We know a way that you can have some great fun, help your community, and learn how to prepare tax returns all at the same time!

AARP Foundation Tax-Aide is the nation's largest volunteer-run tax preparation and assistance service. And we want you to join us. We started in 1968 with just four volunteers at one site preparing 100 tax returns. AARP Foundation Tax-Aide now involves more than 35,000 volunteers and serves 2.6 million taxpayers annually at nearly 6,000 sites nationwide. In fact, we're one of the most effective volunteer programs in America. But even though we've grown a lot, we're still all about the grassroots. You'll be helping people in your own community with a much-needed service that's free, individualized and has no strings attached.

Almost four out of five people who turn to AARP Foundation Tax-Aide are 60 or older. Household incomes aren't high. For many of them, a tax refund could mean they won't have to choose between paying for groceries and keeping the lights on.  See that your friends and neighbors get the tax refund they are entitled to, and do it for them for free!

We need your help to reach more and people in your community by expanding the number of free Tax-Aide sites in the neighborhood.

We will teach you everything you need to know. We will provide all training materials.

We use laptop computers at local libraries and community centers. Don’t have one, we can get you one to use during training and through the tax season.
