As of November 1, 2025, millions of Americans—including many older Texans—may not receive their monthly food benefits through the Supplemental Nutrition Assistance Program (SNAP) due to the ongoing federal government shutdown. This disruption affects individuals living on fixed incomes, many of whom rely on SNAP to afford groceries and maintain their health.

The Madison Common Council voted unanimously on July 15 to approve zoning reform proposals that will create more housing options for residents. WILMINGTON, NC – Attorney General Jeff Jackson and Secretary of State Elaine Marshall joined AARP, the Wilmington Police Department, and United Way NC/NC 211 to launch a statewide effort to help prevent bitcoin and cryptocurrency ATM scams. Victims of these scams can lose well over $100,000, and the money lost is extremely difficult to recover.
