Fraud cost veterans, service members, and their families $477 million in 2023, according to the latest Federal Trade Commission (FTC) data, and this only includes fraud that was reported. With over 85% of veterans having encountered service-related scams in the last 12 months, now is a great time to review some of the most prevalent scams targeting current and former service members.

State Data Reflects Especially Long Wait Lists in Upstate Rural Counties
(Annapolis, MD – October 24, 2024) – AARP Maryland is urging the Maryland General Assembly to expand the Prescription Drug Affordability Board’s authority to bring down costs for all Marylanders. The organization, which represents the interest of older Marylanders, including its 800,000 members across the state, will issue the call to action at a press conference today hosted by the Health Care for All Coalition and lead legislative sponsors, Senator Dawn Gile and Delegates Bonnie Cullison and Jennifer White Holland.
AARP Colorado celebrated the volunteerism of Fruita resident JaNeva Marshall, as well as the Food Bank of the Rockies; Western Slope’s efforts to relieve hunger and provide community support with Volunteer of the Year and Community Partner awards, respectively.

AARP Arizona State Director Dana Marie Kennedy and Associate State Director of Community Outreach Brenda Holt have been selected as recipients of the Inaugural 50 Over 50 Awards presented by FSL (Foundation for Senior Living). Honorees were recognized for their outstanding service to aging Arizonans at FSL’s 50th anniversary event held on October 22 at the Renaissance Hotel in Phoenix.
