So far this spring, the weather has been rough here in Colorado with tornados, thunderstorms, hail and lightning. As we write this, yet another hailstorm is in progress. All of this is stressful for us to endure, but it can also be hard on our canine companions. Fear of thunderstorms is a common problem for dogs. It’s clear many dogs are afraid of the sound of thunder, but others seem to be distressed by other elements such as wind, rain, and even cloudy skies.
AARP and Denver Public Library (DPL) are working together to select and identify 100 photos that depict the powerful events and people that reflect the Chicano movement in Colorado. The photographs will be digitized and accessible online through DPL’s Digital Collections.

Veterans and their families are sometimes targeted by unscrupulous financial and legal professionals who claim to offer free help with paperwork for pension claims. The scheme involves scammers who persuade veterans to make decisions about their pensions without giving them the whole truth about the long-term consequences, such as losing eligibility for Medicaid services or losing the use of their money for an extended period of time.
What is a crisis? It is anything that changes an individual’s emotional or physical path. Isn’t that just about everything that happens to us on a daily basis?
