AARP Applauds Passage of Nursing Home Reforms, Urges Lamont to Sign

Nursing home staff and resident

AARP Connecticut issued the following comment in response to passage of Senate Bill 1030:

“AARP Connecticut applauds legislators for addressing the devastation COVID-19 has caused in nursing homes with the today's passage of Senate Bill 1030, An Act Concerning Long-Term Care Facilities,” said Nora Duncan, AARP Connecticut State Director. “For over a year, nursing home residents, staff, family members, the Long-Term Care Ombudsman, and AARP Connecticut have advocated for many of the important reforms addressed in this bill, such as improved staffing levels, enhanced infection control measures, requiring stockpiles of personal protective equipment, and better emergency planning. We urge the Governor to sign the bill, as well as Senate Bill 975, An Act Strengthening the Bills of Rights for Long-Term Care Residents and Authorizing the Use of Resident Technology for Virtual Visitation and Virtual Monitoring, that will allow nursing home residents to use the technology of their choosing in their room, just as other state residents are able to do in their homes.”
