Voters age 50-plus are a political and economic powerhouse in Florida, and the AARP state office aims to help them make an informed choice for governor.

AARP has produced a Florida voters guide comparing candidates’ stands on key issues, and will cosponsor a televised debate Oct. 15 with Leadership Florida, a nonprofit organization.

Florida has the largest percentage of adults age 65-plus in the country. And older Floridians vote: More than half of those who turned out for the 2012 general election were 45-plus.

The debate will be broadcast statewide and streamed live on the Web. Check local listings for details. To read the voters guide, go to aarp.org/yourvote.
