AARP Eye Center
AARP DC is sponsoring a forum on long-term care June 12 at the Hill Center’s Abraham Lincoln Hall, 921 Pennsylvania Ave. SE, from 9 a.m. to noon.
Discussion topics will include the city’s Department of Health Care Finance’s long-term care project, which is examining how such services are used in the District, and the Community First Choice Option, which provides Medicaid funding for at-home long-term care services for people who would otherwise require care at a nursing home or in a hospital. Those facilities are more expensive than in-home services.
AARP surveys have consistently found that the majority of members want to live at home or in their communities for as long as possible.
