AARP Hawaii is sponsoring a rally at the state Capitol building to encourage support for family caregivers. The I Heart Caregivers Senior Rally on March 25 honors the work of the state’s 247,000 family caregivers, who face increasingly complex challenges as they tend to the needs of loved ones at home.
AARP is urging legislators to pass the Caregiver Advise, Record, Enable (CARE) Act, which would better prepare caregivers to perform followup tasks such as medication management or wound care when a patient comes home from a hospital stay. AARP also advocates a boost in funding to meet the growing demand for home-delivered meals and other in-home services.
