Lupe Wissel of Eagle, who has served AARP Idaho as state director since October 2015, has announced her retirement, effective June 6, 2025. Over her career, including ten in her current position, Wissel’s work includes serving more than 10 years with the U.S. Senate Committee on Veterans’ Affairs and working more than 14 years on Capitol Hill.
AARP Idaho Executive Council member Tom Ressler has received the 2024 Spirit of Freedom: Idaho Veterans Service Award. Senator Crapo created the award in 2002 to recognize Idaho veterans and volunteers for their outstanding service to our country and its veterans.

Volunteers are needed to wrap Christmas gifts for military veterans at the Idaho State Veterans Home on Saturday, November 17th. Volunteers do not need to bring anything other than their enthusiasm. Gifts, wrapping materials, and refreshments will be provided.

Destination Caldwell was recently awarded a 2018 AARP Community Engagement Grant to assist with the implementation of the Articulture program at Indian Creek Plaza. Articulture is a public art collaboration between local artists and community members. Projects are created and facilitated by a local artist while community members are invited to help create and manifest the art together.

Retail prices for many of the most commonly-used brand name drugs by older adults rocketed upward by an average of 8.4 percent in 2017, outstripping the general inflation rate of 2.1 percent. The annual average cost of therapy for just one brand name drug increased to almost $6,800 in 2017.
