Beginning in February and continuing until the end of tax season, AARP Foundation is providing complimentary IRS certified tax preparation in Idaho through its Tax-Aide program. You do not need to be an AARP member to use this service.

AARP Idaho released a new survey showing 75% of small business owners in Idaho think more should be done to encourage residents to save for retirement. Moreover, almost half (46%) express concern about their employees not having enough money to cover health care or living expenses when they retire, with one in five (19%) saying they are very concerned.

On AARP Idaho’s annual Lobby Day, set for Monday, Feb. 3, dozens of members and volunteers will be at the capitol to highlight legislative priorities important to older state residents.
AARP Idaho has appointed Dr. Bessie Katsilometes as state president – the highest state-level volunteer position within the nonprofit, nonpartisan organization. AARP Idaho has more than 186,000 members statewide and more than 37 million members nationwide.
Thousands of Idahoans will have the opportunity to participate in a “telephone town hall" meeting with Idaho President Pro Tem of the Senate Brent Hill and Speaker of the House Scott Bedke. AARP Idaho state director Lupe Wissel will moderate the conversation and take questions from callers across the state.
You are invited to attend the upcoming AARP Volunteer Network Meeting on January 7th, at 1:30 pm (mtn). This is an opportunity to learn more about volunteering with AARP and all of the available opportunities to serve in your community. This meeting is also a chance to hear from AARP Associate State Director of Advocacy Francoise Cleveland. She’ll be discussing the upcoming legislative session, AARP day at the Capitol and other legislative priorities including property tax reduction, retirement savings and more.
