PEORIA, Ill. — Dozens of AARP members, volunteers and other Illinois residents pleaded with elected officials Tuesday to take action to address the high cost of prescription drugs, the state’s fiscal crisis and rising property taxes which are preventing older adults from living comfortably in this state.

AARP Illinois is co-hosting a legislative breakfast with Bradley University’s Osher Lifelong Learning Institute (OLLI) so Illinoisans 50-plus can meet their state and local elected officials and discuss issues they care about. Residents of Peoria, Pekin and surrounding communities will hear from Congresswoman Bustos, and State Senators Koehler and Weaver. The legislative breakfast will be moderated by Brad McMillian, J.D. who is the Executive Director for the Institute for Principled Leadership in Public Service at Bradley University.

Alvaro Obregon, Associate State Director for Advocacy and Outreach invites everyone to learn more about the Mural that AARP has commissioned in Chicago’s Little Village/Pilsen community. AARP is committed to families, community and being part of the diversity that is Chicago.
