AARP Eye Center
'Tis the season...no, not for winter holidays - it's only November! 'Tis the season for recruiting Tax-Aide Volunteers!
Tax-Aide is an AARP Foundation program that helps low- to moderate-income taxpayers have more discretionary income for everyday essentials, such as food and housing, by assisting with tax services and ensuring they receive applicable tax credits and deductions. While special attention is paid to those who are 60+, that is certainly not a requirement for receiving help.
Tax-Aide volunteers work with taxpayers directly; filling out tax returns and helping them seek a refund. The service they provide is completely free and open to the public. And you don't need to be a CPA to help, either: volunteers are trained on the latest tax preparation forms and software. The majority of the work is focused on helping the average person file their taxes...we're not expecting you to jump through hoops to help!
Not good with numbers? No problem! We still need technology coordinators, greeters, communications coordinators, and administrative volunteers. If you have a knack for working with people in any way, we could probably use your help. (Especially if you're bilingual!)
We'll have Tax-Aide sites all across the state, so you probably won't have to travel far. Our sites are usually open from early February through April 15th with flexible scheduling options. Won't you join us? Last year, more than 35,000 volunteers helped nationwide and served 2.6 million taxpayers annually at nearly 6,000 sites. Be one of these inspiring numbers and sign up to help today!
