Learn how to protect yourself and your family from fraud, scams and identity theft during an AARP Fraud Watch Network workshop at 6 p.m. on Thursday, July 9, at Henderson Memorial Public Library, 54 E. Jefferson St., Jefferson, Ohio 44047.

Scammers are developing new techniques all the time, making it easier than ever to get taken on the phone and online by thieves who trick you into believing their lies.

During this presentation by AARP volunteer Jim Crawford you will learn just how dangerous it is to let household documents that contain personal information fall into the wrong hands, and what action to take if they do. You will hear how you can put yourself at risk by sharing too much on social media sites, and learn how to identify and avoid clicking on malicious links. He also will explain how to recognize callers whose questions you should never answer.

This presentation is open to everyone at no charge. All participants will receive free copies of the AARP Fraud Watch Network Watchdog Alert and Con Artist Playbook.
