AARP Eye Center
If the long winter made you vow to spend more time outdoors, AARP New Hampshire has arranged four great opportunities with the Massabesic Audubon Center at 26 Audubon Way, Auburn.
Start May 9 by learning how to create a nature-friendly garden. On May 16, join an experienced naturalist for a bird walk in Audubon’s 130-acre sanctuary.
On May 29, experienced kayakers are invited to bring boats, paddles and life jackets to explore Lake Massabesic with Audubon staff and learn about the lake’s ecosystems and history. June 12 will be kayaking for beginners, including a short paddle to nesting spots on the lake. Audubon will provide boats and life jackets to those registering by June 9. Kayaking on both dates will be from Clair’s Landing across Route 121 from the Auburn town offices (Exit 2 south from Route 101) on the lake’s eastern shore.
AARP members and their first guest will pay $5 each for the bird walk (loaned binoculars included), and $10 for the other events they attend. Family rates are available.
Registration by phone (603-668-2045) is required for all events. Most start at 10 a.m. and last up to two hours. The center is about two miles south from Exit 1 on Route 101. More details at nhaudubon.org. —Joe Magruder
