Food, fun and some scrappy hockey are in store for AARP New Hampshire members and their guests when the Manchester Monarchs take on the Reading Royals on Saturday, Nov. 19.
The fun begins at 5:30 p.m. with a free reception hosted by AARP in a VIP area of the SNHU (formerly Verizon Wireless) Arena in downtown Manchester. Meet and mingle with other AARP members and AARP New Hampshire staff.
The game begins at 6 p.m.
AARP members can buy discount Suite Level tickets, for themselves and their guests, which include $5 food or drink vouchers, for $27.50 (face value $50); or Lower Level tickets (face value $27.50) for $16. Discounted tickets will not be available at the door.
Numerous former Monarchs play in the National Hockey League, and the Monarchs, who make the playoffs almost every year, were Eastern Division champions in their league, the ECHL, last season. The hockey is exciting partly because the players are competing so hard to move up.
“It’s a little bit more of an open game—more scoring, more hitting, more fighting,” said Monarchs spokesman Matt Johnson.
A bonus: This is the Monarchs’ annual “Mullets in Movember” night (free wigs and mustaches provided at the door) to raise money for and awareness of men's cancer.
