AARP Twin Cities at PRIDE:
AARP Boomer Town is where to find organizations that serve older adults at the Twin Cities Pride Festival. AARP started Boomer Town in 2014 when community members approached us to say the festival had become mostly youth-oriented and less relevant to LGBT elders, the pioneers in the equality movement. It’s in a great location within Loring Park with shade trees and seating for people who want to relax for a while away from the busy trails.
This year we are observing the 50th anniversary of the Stonewall uprising, recognized as the origin of the modern LGBT movement. In the Boomer Town tent festival-goers are encouraged to write a message of gratitude, reflect on the contributions of LGBT elders and add to the art in the Boomer Town back yard.
In AARP’s tent, learn about our Livable Communities initiative and how great places to live are inclusive for all people.
