AARP Minnesota Statement on Union 2020’s Citation of AARP in Mailer
ST. PAUL, Minn. — AARP Minnesota State Director Will Phillips issued the following statement today in response to Union 2020’s citation of AARP, the unauthorized use of AARP’s logo, and misleading statements about AARP in a mailer sent to Minnesota voters. AARP has sent a cease and desist letter to Union 2020. Phillips said:
“AARP did not authorize or participate in the production of Union 2020’s mailer sent to Minnesota voters. Further, the mailer includes the unauthorized use of AARP’s logo and uses AARP’s statements in a misleading way. AARP has a proud 34-year history of non-partisan voter engagement and does not endorse or oppose candidates, nor does AARP make contributions to political campaigns or candidates. We encourage Minnesotans to find out where the candidates stand on the issues they care about so they can make their own decisions in this election.”
