Americans age 50-plus increasingly are using social media, and AARP is tapping into that trend to hear what people have to say about Social Security, caregiving, transportation, livable communities, retirement planning and other issues.

AARP Mississippi is recruiting volunteers who use Facebook and Twitter to encourage people to share ideas about these issues online. Volunteers will receive training—including the use of tablets and smart phones—and some travel expenses will be reimbursed.

A 2012 study by the nonprofit Pew Research Center showed that while people 65-plus are the age group least likely to start using the Internet, they are enthusiastic users once they are online.
