AARP Day at Manchester's Millyard Museum: June 29

You spoke and we listened!

Throughout last year, AARP held a series of open houses to find out what New Hampshire residents wanted from their membership and a consistent theme emerged.  You wanted local offerings – at New Hampshire venues – and the chance to meet other AARP members. 

AARP is proud to announce the Manchester's Millyard Museum will be offering to AARP members on June 29 a $3 discounted ticket price.

 Adults:  $5 (regularly $8)
 Seniors, 62+:  $3 (regularly $6)
 12 and under:  free

A true gem rich in history, the Millyard Museum is housed at Mill No. 3 at the corner of Commercial and Pleasant in the historic Amoskeag Millyard in downtown Manchester.  The Museum features the permanent exhibit, Woven in Time:  11,000 Years at Amoskeag Falls, that tells the story of Manchester and the people who have lived and worked here. 

The exhibit continues with the story of the development of the Amoskeag Manufacturing Company, one of the largest textile-producing companies in the world, employing over 17,000 people.  The company's vast brick millyard still dominates Manchester’s cityscape today.

Admission includes all exhibits as well as a special lecture at 11:00, Samuel Blodget – Manchester’s Pioneer of Industry.   Samuel Blodget was a lumberman, a merchant, an inventor and a visionary.  A local hero, Blodget built a transportation canal so river boats carrying cargo could bypass Amoskeag Falls on the Merrimack River.
