It’s time to enjoy some summer and fall activities!
AARP is offering fun activities in collaboration with the Massabesic Audubon Center from July through September. Whether you are interested in nocturnal wildlife, gardens for pollinators or the magic of bird migration, you won’t want to miss the fun!
Here’s the line-up of events. AARP members and their guests must pre-register by visiting the online events calendar at nhaudubon.org or by calling 603 668 2045. Payment is required at the time of registration. (If registering online, select the “member” option. If registering by telephone, be sure to mention you are an AARP member.)
Nocturnal Wildlife Walk
Wednesday, July 17, 2019. 7:30 to 9:30 pm
Cost for AARP members and their guests: $10 per person or $25 for a family
Come with us on a night walk to watch bats emerging and hunting, look and listen for owls, and visit a pond filled with the music of frogs. Learn about these nocturnal animals and some of their amazing adaptations that help them thrive at night.
Gardens for Pollinators
Wednesday, August 14, 2019. 6:30 to 8:30 pm
Cost for AARP members and their guests: $10 per person
Take a walk among the gardens and find out which plants are loved by native bees, butterflies, moths, birds, bats, beetles and other insects. And why. No matter if you have a full garden or only room for one pot, you can play your part by choosing plants that contribute to the habitat of our friends.
Magic of Migration
Wednesday, September 18, 2019. 7:00 to 8:30 pm
Cost for AARP members and their guests: $10 per person
Migration is a challenging journey for birds, made possible by healthy stop-over sites to rest and refuel along the way. Learn about some of New Hampshire’s common bird migration habitats, why they migrate and how they return year after year. Plus, you’ll get to meet two of New Hampshire Audubon’s Ambassador Raptors!
All events take place at the Massabesic Audubon Center, 26 Audubon Way, in Auburn.
