The Currier Museum of Art is offering special deals and a special program for AARP members all day Saturday, October 19.  New Hampshire residents arriving before noon will receive free admission.  After noon, AARP members will receive $1 off admission, with a discounted rate of $9.

Free with admission will be a special film and discussion.  Starting at 3:00, Mama Benz and the Taste of Money details the interplay between a young, ambitious European and an equally ambitious African market woman as they jockey for advantage to market cloth in a new territory.  Following the film will be a discussion about the impact global trade has on textile goods produced and used across the continent of Africa.

A jewel in the heart of Manchester, the Currier is an internationally renowned art museum featuring European and American paintings, decorative arts, photographs and sculptures – including the works of Picasso, Monet, O’Keeffe, and Wyeth.

Open from 10:00 to 5:00, come early, stay late, visit all the exhibits, stay for lunch in the Winter Garden Café, and stop by the Museum Shop!  And while you’re here, visit with AARP volunteers and staff and learn more about AARP in your community.

The Currier is also offering a special exhibition of photographs that brought the Vietnam War to the dinner table of every American household.  Visual Dispatches from the Vietnam War shows the horror of combat with directness never seen before.

Hope to see you October 19 at Currier Museum of Art.
