AARP is now accepting nominations for its 2017 New Hampshire Andrus Award for Community Service -- AARP’s most prestigious and visible state volunteer award. The purpose of the award is to recognize outstanding individuals who are making a powerful difference in their communities in ways that advance AARP’s mission, vision, and commitment to volunteer service and that inspire others to volunteer.
I waited in Panera Bread, readying myself to interview the 2016 AARP New Hampshire Andrus Award for Community Service recipient. The Andrus Award is AARP’s most prestigious award, recognizing an individual 50 years or older who has made an impact on their community through volunteerism and inspired others to do the same. With that prestige in mind, I admit I was nervous.
The NonProfit Times recently selected AARP Chief Executive Officer Jo Ann Jenkins as the recipient of the 2015 Influencer of the Year award. She was recognized as the industry’s leading innovator for her work over the past twelve months to change the conversation around the realities of aging in America.
