Every day, millions of Americans lose their hard-earned money to identity theft and other types of scams. Last year alone, 16.7 million people from communities across the nation lost $17 billion to identity fraud alone. That’s one person victimized every two seconds!

AARP New Hampshire is teaming up with Service Credit Union for a document-shredding event on September 30 (9 am to 12 pm) at the Service Credit Union (8 Merchants Way) parking lot in Concord, NH.

Bring up to three boxes per car of personal papers, such as credit card bills, legal documents, bank statements, old checks and forms that display your Social Security number. The documents will be shredded on-site.

Shredding events are part of AARP’s fraud prevention efforts. Imposter Scams are the most reported scams in the Granite State.

The AARP Fraud Watch NetworkTM is a free resource for all. With AARP as your partner, you’ll learn how to proactively spot scams, get guidance from our fraud specialists if you’ve been targeted, and feel more secure knowing that we advocate at the federal, state, and local levels to protect consumers and enforce the law.

This service is free and open to the public, but you must register here: https://events.aarp.org/scu-shred923
