Remember the “mother-in-law suite” or “granny flat”? These small, separate living spaces tucked behind a main house were once common in American neighborhoods. After World War II, they popped up across the country, offering families a way to keep loved ones close while giving them independence. However, over time, zoning laws made it increasingly difficult to build them, and they gradually faded from view.

More than seven-in-ten older adults would prefer to remain in their communities as they age while large majorities of those 50 and older favor a roster of zoning and land-use policies that would allow more homes to be built, according to surveys by AARP and The Pew Charitable Trusts. New AARP Report Highlights Steady Increase in Consumer Fraud Year-Over-Year
Monique’s journey as a caregiver for her mother, Miette, involved tough choices and a relentless commitment to her well-being. As a retired nurse and a RN care manager, Monique brought a wealth of knowledge to the role.
In early May, Susan noticed some unusual small charges from “Apple” on her Capital One credit card. Concerned, she called the number on the back of her card to dispute these charges, confident this was the best and safest step to protect her account. However, this call led her directly into the hands of scammers, who were somehow able to intercept what she believed was a trusted customer service line.
