Two-Day Ice Cream Tour Brought Communities and Congressional Leaders Together to Share Stories and Rally Support for Protecting Social Security
A new AARP survey, released in conjunction with Social Security’s 90th anniversary, confirms that Americans highly value Social Security, and even more so than five years ago. The vast majority of Americans – 95% of Republicans, 98% of Democrats, and 93% of Independents – consider Social Security vital to the financial security of all Americans, and 67% believe it is even more important for retirees than it was five years ago.
AARP New Jersey is teaming up with Rutgers University during the 2025 football season to help tackle when, where and how to vote in the 2025 NJ elections so New Jerseyans can make their voices heard.
Let’s take a moment to celebrate one of the most enduring and impactful programs in American history: Social Security! That’s right, August 14th marks 90 years since Social Security was signed into law in 1935. And like any good nonagenarian, it’s got stories to tell, wisdom to share, a whole lot of people who are grateful for its existence and it needs our care.
As part of National Volunteer Month in April, we sent a small gift to our volunteers to show our gratitude for the work they do to drive AARP's mission and impact. A ‘thank you card’ and small AARP lapel pin was sent to each volunteer as a way to honor and say THANK YOU for their unwavering commitment. Here are some volunteers proudly sporting their new pins at events throughout the state.
In the early 1900s, the Greenwood neighborhood of Tulsa, Oklahoma, now called "Black Wall Street," was a vibrant and prosperous community. Despite the challenges and racial injustices they faced, residents of this community built a thriving neighborhood filled with successful Black-owned businesses, attorneys, doctors, and real estate agents. Their achievements were nothing short of remarkable and served as a beacon of hope for Black Americans nationwide.
AARP New Jersey is hosting a Facebook Live event on Friday, May 5, at noon to discuss common scams being perpetrated across the state and to help people learn how to protect themselves.
Safe and long-term services include a wide variety of support that assist people with improving the quality, safety, and chance to receive care at home or in a nursing home.
AARP advocates for older adults’ access to reliable and affordable utilities and works to ensure rates and policies are fair.
AARP supports solutions that will lead to lower drug prices, including greater transparency in data reporting from big drug companies, public reporting on prices increases, caps on insulin and other critical medications, and a Board of independent experts responsible for making actionable recommendations on how the state can ensure affordable medications for all.
The state’s 1 million family caregivers provide unpaid care valued at over $17 billion annually in New Jersey. A modest tax credit is financial relief family caregivers have earned.
AARP New Jersey has long advocated for proposals that provide equitable, cost-effective and targeted property tax relief to those most burdened by their property tax bills.
