As of November 1, 2025, millions of Americans—including many older adults—may not receive their monthly food benefits through the Supplemental Nutrition Assistance Program (SNAP) due to the ongoing federal government shutdown. This disruption affects individuals living on fixed incomes, many of whom rely on SNAP to afford groceries and maintain their health.

New Data Show 26% Of Adults In New Jersey Provide Care, Spotlighting Urgent Need for Action to Support Family Caregivers
The AARP Pickleball Clinic experience is coming to New Jersey and we are excited to offer you a chance to learn and play this popular sport! The clinics will consist of an on-court guided session with licensed instructors and focus on warm up, basic technique, skills building, and game play for players of all levels. Pickleball is a fun way to connect with friends, stay fit* and support your brain to help your health and happiness live as long as you do.
At AARP, we have been promoting the health and well-being of older Americans for more than 60 years. Our top priority is the health and well-being of staff, volunteers, members and the community at large.
During the pandemic, AARP New Jersey hosted numerous Telephone Town Hall forums connecting New Jerseyans with their representatives and state experts. AARP New Jersey’s guests provided information on how to stay informed and stay healthy during the pandemic. From March through June, there was more than 40,000 participants on the calls combined.
Every New Jerseyan has been impacted by COVID-19 in some way. During the public health emergency, the state, businesses and individuals were faced with new and urgent issues. AARP New Jersey has been tracking and advocating on some of the most pressing and important issues to YOU. (June 9, 2020) - Across New Jersey more than 1 million family caregivers help their parents, spouses and other loved ones - and we can expect COVID-19 to increase the number of individuals who are providing short-term or long-term care to an older loved one.

On Monday, May 18, AARP New Jersey hosted a coronavirus information Telephone Town Hall with U.S. Senator Cory Booker of New Jersey. Senator Booker discussed the coronavirus in New Jersey, recent economic stimulus laws, and the work he is doing in Congress to provide support for New Jerseyans during the public health emergency.
