Calling All Entrepreneurs and Small Business Owners: Make Your Business Dreams Happen

Are you an aspiring entrepreneur or small business owner looking for support to grow or start your business? AARP Long Island is excited to offer an opportunity for anyone ready to take their business ideas to the next level!

Join us for a free virtual workshop on Wednesday, March 12 from 11 a.m. – 12 p.m. ET (morning session) or 6 p.m. – 7 p.m. ET (evening session), where you can meet with industry thought leaders from Hofstra University’s Institute of Innovation & Entrepreneurship and the Small Business Development Center at Farmingdale State College.

Small businesses are essential to our nation’s economy, and many are started by people ages 50 and over. Whether you’re ready to launch a new venture, need resources to grow your current business, or want guidance on entrepreneurship, this workshop will provide valuable tools and insights to help you succeed.

This is your chance to connect with a dynamic team of professionals who can guide you through the resources available to entrepreneurs, including how to secure funding, build networks, and leverage educational programs. You’ll hear from:

  • Joy Machelle Williams, Associate Director for Community Engagement & Initiatives at Hofstra University’s Institute of Innovation & Entrepreneurship, who has helped create over 450 events and mentored countless entrepreneurs.
  • Erica Chase-Gregory, Regional Director of the Small Business Development Center (SBDC) at Farmingdale State College, will share insights from a center that has helped over 9,700 small businesses secure over $215 million to start or expand their ventures.
  • Bernard Macias, Senior Associate State Director for AARP Long Island, will present resources from AARP, including the Small Business Resource Center for the 50+, which provides valuable guides for starting, managing, and growing a business.

The best part? This event is open to all ages. The information shared can benefit anyone looking to navigate the world of small business.

How to Join:

We understand how busy life can be, especially for entrepreneurs juggling multiple tasks. That’s why we’ve made sure to offer this dynamic workshop two times for you to join at your leisure. You’ll need to register for the session you're interested in attending. The content of both events will be the same.

Please note that you must sign in to your AARP.org account or create one to register for the event, but AARP membership is not required to attend.
