Walking the dog takes on a whole new meaning in downtown Albany when you can run into 20 mini Nippers, all decorated by artists: professional and amateur.
“Downtown is Pawsome” exhibit is a walking tour, sponsored by the Downtown Albany Business Improvement District, and part of their Placemaking initiative. Three-foot-tall Nippers pay homage to the 28-foot fiberglass Nipper dog that sits atop the old RCA warehouse on North Broadway and has been a mainstay of the Albany skyline for decades. The works of art sit on street corners and a walking tour map can be found online.
The “Downtown is Pawsome” exhibit will be on display until May 2018, offering an accessible, fun social activity for those who work, live, and play in the downtown area while also providing a new look for the dog that so many Albany residents have grown to know and love.
