The SOMOS (We Are) campaign highlights the lively energy and pride of the community while showcasing AARP as a companion in life. SOMOS AARP, a place where everyone is welcome!

Hispanic Heritage Month Upcoming Events:
1. Social Security Workshops
AARP members and guests are invited to join us for two Social Security Workshops on Facebook Live during #HispanicHeritageMonth, one in English and another in Spanish. Each session will cover what Social Security is, a discussion about its future, retirement and family benefits, and more.

2. Rhythm Revue – Roseland Reunion
Music is a powerful stimulator of the brain & has the potential to be a critical tool to preserve & enhance brain health. AARP members and guests are invited to join us on the dance floor at Rhythm Revue, Roseland Reunion with DJ Felix.

3. SOMOS (We Are Campaign):
AARP is proud to announce the launch of the 2023 SOMOS (We Are) Campaign, which will provide local markets with new Spanish and culturally relevant English storytelling to connect with Hispanic/Latino audiences. “Somos” directly translates to “We are,” which signifies various aspects of the Hispanic presence in the United States. It represents hard-workers, daydreamers, vibrant personalities, and overall, the ever-growing community of 62 million Hispanic Americans. It highlights the lively energy and pride of the community while showcasing AARP as a companion for life.

4. Hispanic/Latino Lawmakers Talk About Their Life in Advocacy
AARP New York is proud to celebrate Hispanic Heritage Month by asking our New York elected officials from around the state to share their stories about why they decided to run for office, why it’s important to celebrate Hispanic/Latino culture and tradition, and what New Yorkers age 50-plus can do to get involved in local and state public policy.
