The holidays are always a joyful—and stressful—season, and this year is likely to be especially challenging during the coronavirus pandemic.
But there is a growing list of opportunities for New Yorkers to stay physically healthy and socially engaged these days, through free virtual events and classes.
Every Tuesday at 11 a.m. in December, AARP members and friends can join in a series of online yoga classes, Find Your Inner Warrior: Yoga for Strengthening and Resiliency.
In these classes, instructors will teach beginner-level courses in chair yoga and Kundalini yoga, with movements suitable for any fitness level—and an emphasis on self-care.
For those who want to enjoy music and culture with a Latin flair, AARP New York is presenting AARP En Vivo Contigo, a series of shows on current topics with award-winning artists and influencers, including singers Rubén Blades and Victor Manuelle.
The series, featuring in-depth interviews, videos and some live performances, will offer new episodes on Tuesdays—Dec. 8, Dec. 22 and Dec. 29—at 1:30 p.m. These and other programs can also be viewed later.
