Dance, regardless of its style, could help improve muscular strength and endurance, balance, and other aspects of functional fitness in older adults according to scientific findings.
Connect with AARP New York and Zumba Gold instructor Lois Goddard for three Virtual Zumba Classes for Active Aging Adults. The dance moves incorporated into each class could help to increase movement, breathing, and flexibility, while reducing stressors in the process. We understand the importance of promoting a healthy and active lifestyle for older adults to increase productivity, reduce healthcare costs, and improve morale, while developing community at the same time.
The body is designed to move. Work up a sweat by dancing away at one of our Zumba classes to help improve your physical health!
Event Details:
Each class starts with a warmup song, 6 - 8 songs, pre-cool down and a cool down song. There are a few minutes breaks in between songs so attendees can refresh, restore, and restart. It is a medium intensity class; however, your heart rate increases as you move and work up a sweat.
*All classes are from 2:00 p.m. - 3:00 p.m.
