Fraud and scams continue to plague Americans of all ages, and older adults are especially vulnerable. The Federal Trade Commission (FTC) found that Americans lost $12.5 billion to fraud in 2024, which represents a 25% increase over the prior year.
Join North Carolina fraud-fighters the first Friday of each month, when they help people understand and avoid fraud that is targeting older adults.
Each half-hour program helps unmask common fraud and scams, helping viewers recognize, prevent and report fraud. Over the next few months, Fraud Free Fridays will examine how cryptocurrency and bitcoin ATM scams work, how to recognize artificial intelligence (AI) scams, and will look at the most common fraud that occurs during the holiday season.
The 2025 programs presented live on Facebook and YouTube at noon on October 3, November 7, and December 5, can also be accessed any time after the initial airing on-demand.
