Report Examines How to Help Family Caregivers

caregiver

With support from AARP North Carolina, the North Carolina Institute of Medicine’s Task Force on Serious Illness Care will be releasing a report this spring on how to ease the struggles of the state’s 1.33 million family caregivers and their loved ones.

In addition to the task force, AARP North Carolina’s priorities include the passage of legislation to advance broadband access for telehealth; continuing to advocate for cities, towns and rural areas to become more age-friendly; and approval of the North Carolina Caregivers Act.

The act would require hospitals to provide critical patient and care information to a designated family caregiver.
