Are you close to retirement and exploring new opportunities? Or, are you wondering how you will manage your life once you retire? A growing number of individuals age 50+ are turning to small business ownership. We call them “Encore Entrepreneurs.”
Two workshops are being offered, free of charge, on April 28th and April 29th. Details are below. Advance registration is required. If special accommodations are required for either workshop, please register by April 22.

Whether you are interested in starting a small business right away or intend to wait until retirement, now is the time to explore the possibilities. Get ready for a new start by meeting successful people who started businesses after age 50. Come join the Small Business Administration, AARP DC, and SCORE for an open discussion as two small businesses share their stories of success, sustainability, growth, pitfalls, and rewards.
The U.S. Small Business Administration is conveniently located on the Orange and Blue Metro Lines at the Federal Center SW station. Please plan to arrive at least 15 minutes early to allow time to go through security.

Have an idea to start your own small business? Need basic information on what to do next, costs and where to go for assistance? Come out and join the Small Business Administration, AARP DC, and SCORE to meet your local small business resource partners who provide expert business coaching. Learn what it takes to pursue a small business venture and talk to Small Business Administration resource partners which will include representatives from SCORE, Women Business Centers, and the Small Business Development Center.
Sign up for this workshop and get the opportunity to practice your two–minute business pitch in front of a panel of business consultants who will provide positive feedback to help you market to new customers, lending institutions, and contract officers. Enjoy networking with other business owners.
