An exciting six-week free walking program to help people of all ages keep moving while learning ways to “strike a balance” in life will kick-off on March 14, 2013 at 10 a.m. in Cape Girardeau. The walking program, called “Striking a Balance,” will be held on Thursdays from 10 – 11:15 a.m. at the St. Francis Medical Center-Fitness Plus, Conference Rooms 1 and 2, 150 S. Mt. Auburn Road.
Each program will include stretching and strengthening exercises that will increase flexibility and muscle strength, align posture and improve balance. All participants will be asked to track their exercise during the program. During the six week program, four special presentations are scheduled:
- March 14: Balancing Act 1: Walk With Ease: Beginning a Safe and Successful Exercise Program presented by Heidi Dunn and Sandy Duncan, MSA
- March 28: Balancing Act 2: Using Medications and Supplements Safely presented by Carrie Beth Smith, R. Ph.
- April 11: Balancing Act 3: Coping with Stress presented by Mary Gosche, MA, CFLE
- April 25: Balancing Act 4: Using “My Place” for Good Nutrition presented by Judy Lueders, MA
