AARP Eye Center
Job search and strategy skills are an essential asset to have as a worker today. In Central Texas, where many newcomers arrive each day looking for work, there’s a great demand for knowing the practical steps to take toward improving chances of getting a job.
For older workers looking for employment opportunities or those who are just wanting to enhance their career-building and job-interviewing skills, a series of job expos are being held throughout Austin in 2017. AARP Texas is among sponsors for the events that will be hosted by AustinUP, a local nonprofit group.
The free-to-attend job expos to be held monthly and at various locations will feature employers looking for potential part-time and full-time candidates. There’ll also be expert speakers with advice on topics like job-interviewing, the do’s and don’ts of resume writing, and how to dress for success. Other resources will include information on how to search for a job in the digital age using online jobsites, and ways to identify age discrimination in the workplace or during a job interview.
