On Friday, January 24, 2020, AARP Texas Director Tina Tran released the following statement in response to American Workers For Progress’ citation of AARP’s backing of federal legislation to lower the price of prescription drugs in a political advertisement supporting U.S. Rep. Henry Cuellar:

Lisa Rodriguez, who has led AARP’s work in San Antonio for the past decade, has been named Manager of Outreach and Advocacy for the nationwide nonprofit’s Texas operations. In her new role, Rodriguez will lead a team of seven staff and hundreds of volunteers in communities throughout the state.

AARP Texas will unveil a new community mural Oct. 6, at 1902 S. Lamar St., Dallas, as part of its Livable Communities efforts.

Former Texas Department of Aging and Disability Services Commissioner Jon Weizenbaum joins the AARP Texas Executive Council as its newest member.

This afternoon, AARP Texas is joining the City of Houston, Texas Legal Services Center (TLSC), Texas Ratepayers’ Organization to Save Energy (Texas ROSE), One Voice Texas and the Texas Association of Community Action Agencies in filing a Petition for Emergency Rulemaking before the Texas Public Utility Commission to extend electricity customer protection rules for the victims of Hurricane Harvey. AARP Texas Director Bob Jackson released the following statement.
